review by Octavio Ramos Jr
Those of you familiar with Agonia Records know well that this label releases nothing but the bone grinding sounds of extremity. So, it comes as no surprise that the debut of the Polish outfit Infernal War meets this singular criterion. Terrorfront is primitive and intense war metal, that most barbarous subgenre of black metal.
Raw, brutal, and uncompromising doesn't even come close to describing this band's sound, but that's the best that I can do. Drummer Stormblast (Thunderbolt and Warhead) is a cybernetic organism of the first order, his hands and feet pneumatic drivers that pulverise any surface. Bassist Godcrucher (Darzamat and Cold) shadows the guitar antics of Triumphator (Thunderbolt and Arkona) and Zyklon, who in turn churn out an array of high-pitched solos, blistering riffs, and rousing hooks. Holding court in this realm of chaos is throat Herr Warcimer, whose vocal spews craft the best propaganda.
And the pain only gets worse upon analysing the lyrics. Topics cover the gamut of hate, from the dismissive and blasphemous orations toward Christianity found on Crushing Impure Idolatry and the savouring of war and violence on Dead Head's Empire to the misanthropic mania of Salvation and a call to Satanic cleansing on Dechristianised By Para Bellum. This stuff is not for the weak of heart.
Listen to Terrorfront at your own risk. You have been warned.
